All months have birthstones and flowers. Combined, they are those of the seasons. Enjoy reading the qualities of these flowers and precious and semi-precious gems.

Midsummer, Litha, Alban Hefin…. Celebration of Earth’s beauty and abundance! Summer encompassing the months of June, July, August and September is the season of youth, abundance and light.

The altar is eclectic, according to one’s desires. The altar cloth, candles and flora in some form are present at each Sabbat. Depending on the Sabbat, crystals, incense, herbs, fruit, bread, potpourri, sea shells and other objects reflecting the celebration may also placed there.

There are special flowers and crystals for each season. They have their own special symbolism.

Flowers of Summer

Cloths and candles of white, red, yellow, blue and green, colors of Midsummer, adorn the altar. Summer flowers, in vases of silver, gold, copper and crystal, are in abundance reflecting the joy of the Sabbat.

Crystals of Summer

In addition to the crystals of the season, clear quartz, which has its own powers, is the stone that can be substituted for all others, so it is included here.

Amber is fossilized resin of coniferous trees that lived about 24 to 34 million years ago during the Oligocene epoch. Pearls are produced by mollusks, primarily oysters. Although both aren’t stones, they are considered crystals.
